How We Work

At Petersen Kitchens and Designs (PK&D) we can work with you in several ways:

  • Supply a design and cabinetry for your project with installation by others – your own contractor.
  • Complete kitchen remodel by Petersen’s crew on a project not requiring exterior work
  • Petersen Kitchens’ crew can install your cabinetry in a room readied by your contractor.

First Step: Feel free to explore our showroom and examine displays that show various products, styles and finishes. Please notice our particular attention to detail of construction, mouldings, and trim. Each display shows approximate pricing giving you a general idea of what your project might cost.

Second Step: If you’d like to continue with Petersen’s there are several routes you may take. An appointment is necessary to meet with a designer.

  1. Showroom Meeting: If you have a plan with room dimensions, including ceiling height, and want to discuss your layout, design ideas, and cabinetry, a designer will meet with you in our showroom. This initial meeting takes about 1 ½ hours during which time you will choose a cabinet style and finish. The designer will work up a drawing of the conceptual plan and an estimate for the cabinetry (this is not a final working plan).
  2. Site Visit: A designer can come to your home to discuss ideas for your remodeling project, take measurements, and draw up a conceptual plan. We suggest that you visit the showroom prior to the designer coming out in order to pick a cabinet you like and want an estimate for. The designer will meet with you again in the showroom to review the plan and discuss the project further. The fee for this service is $500.

Third Step: For further work by PK&D such as redesigning, repricing, additional site or showroom meetings, etc., a non-refundable retainer (normally $1,500-$3,500 based on the scope of your project) is required and will be applied against the initial deposit of your cabinets, ordered within 365 days from date of the Retainer Agreement. We are happy to release drawings once a retainer is received. The intensive work of design and planning begins here with the designer meeting with your contractor to go over measurements and construction details. In the later stages of the project, your designer will be glad to help you in your choice of appliances, flooring, lighting, and countertop materials.

We look forward to working with you on your project!
